A set of three sculptures which are wall mounted. Made from porcelain with inlayed slip, coloured glaze and 24ct gold leaf. These are shown separately below.

All of my work is based on natural formations and encompassing my passion for jewellery. The black lines and brighter pops of colour in these pieces are a loose reference to my love of urban art.

Each piece is individually made by carving the initial rough shape from a block of porcelain. As it starts to dry out i slice and cut and rip the clay apart making organic shapes, some of these i re-cut and wedge together with brighter coloured slip, creating stripes, lines and drips.

Thin channels are made in the hardening porcelain and coloured slip is inserted. As soon as this is dry enough i cut and scrape away the excess, neaten up the lines and then start to rub the clay all over with a rubber tool which creates a smoother finish.

After the initial firing i mask off areas and glaze with a glossy glaze. After final firing this leaves areas of pure porcelain and other areas are a high shine which catches light in a different way. Gold leaf is applied as the final process.
